A bit about surfing in France

France is renouned for its pumping waves and vast stretch of beaches and dunes. None more well-known than the South West coastline which contains the world renouned spot Hossegor, where waves have travelled miles across the Atlantic to dump on the sand reef. The winters are cold but offer consistant swells whilst summer produced countless warm memories and epic sessions.

Surf Camps & Accomodation:

Waves in France:

Although there is no coves or shelter like many surf spots around the world, France is still suitable for all abilities. In the South West where our partnered surf camps are, you will surf on sand bottomed reefs- no nasty coral to cut your feet up. France is quite tidal and in most places works better on a mid tide. However, many spots are at their best on full tides when the classic beach breaks spring to action producing fast, steep and generally gnarly barrels.
